Westmoor PTO Committees

Committee Chairs run all the awesome events that happen at Westmoor. Without these volunteers, the terrific social events and enrichment activities offerred for our Westmoor community and students, wouldn't exist! Help the Committee Chairs out by volunteering ... and if you have a chance, thank them for all their time and dedication they give to making Westmoor the amazing school that it is!

Partner with our Special Lunch provider to organize Special Lunches at Wetsmoor!

Coordinates 5th grade event for the students and their parents. Creates and sends save the dates/invitations, plans the event and activities and executes the event.

Organizes the 5th grade yearbook creation, including collecting pictures, taking all class pictures, etc. Includes working with the yearbook vendor and organizing a slideshow for the end of year 5th grade party.

Distributes Block Parent instructions and signs to volunteers. Communicates Block Parent Safety day to Westmoor families.

Coordinates the PTO birthday book program. Purchases a variety of books that kids can choose from for their birthday (or half birthday for summer birthdays) as a gift from the PTO.

Coordinates the purchase and placement of birthday signs to celebrate birthdays of our Westmoor community! Decide how to coordinate volunteers for the year ... find a few for each neighborhood area, find one person for each week of the year, or find a group willing to split the delivery and pick up of signs. It's up to you! We learned a lot in year 1 and we are gearing up for year 2 with birthday signs to celebrate birthdays for our kiddos!

Coordinates Box Tops collections for Westmoor. Contacts General Mills, informs Westmoor community of collection dates, sets up occassional competitions, cuts and sends Box Tops in to earn money for Westmoor. 

Assists President with communications, website, Facebook posts and other modes of communication/marketing for the PTO. Partners with district office on district technologies/website.

Organizes and runs community giving/philanthropic events for Westmoor families in support of D28's sister school in Africa. Committee will coordinate with the district rep and establish the calendar of events for the year and organize volunteers to run each event.

Coordinates evening event on Westmoor's back lawn to celebrate the end of the school year. Organizes food vendor, DJ/activities, giveaways, ice cream cart or other related activities. Typically in early June.

Communicates, collects and encourages participation in Westmoor's largest fundraising campaign, Free Will.

This committee is responsible for overseeing the success of our fundraising programs.

Markets the District 28 Gift Card Plus fundraising program, typically three times a year before major holidays. Promotes the program, distributes order forms, collects payment and distributes the gift cards to Westmoor families after purchase. 

Coordinates the marketing of the Homer O. Harvey district-wide fun run, typically in the spring. Volunteers may help organize fun runs at recess at school to help with conditioning for the HOH 5K, etc.

We are seeking an additional co-chair to plan and coordinate catered meal/parties for school staff throughout the school year to show them our gratitude for all they do for our kids. Co-chairs work with restaurants to create a menu and coordinate a team of bakers and servers to make each event great and unique. 

Events the committee chairs lead are: Back-to-School Luncheon (8/21), Holiday Lunch (December), Staff Appreciation Lunch (May), and School Conference Dinners (October & February). 

This is a wondeful way to say thank you to our teachers and staff who make Westmoor the great school it is! Consider volunteering time for an event or becoming a co-chair!

Learns the Westmoor PTO bylaws, leads the review/updating of the bylaws at least every two years. Keeps partners aware of pending legislation that is relevant to schools.

Communicates and collects PTO Membership Dues from Westmoor families and staff.

Updates New Family Handbook and contacts new Westmoor families to welcome them to the community. (Late Summer) Attends new family meetings the week prior to the start of the school year and has a small gift for new 1st to 5th graders at Westmoor.

Organizes pizza lunch days for each Thursday of the school year.

Assigns and oversees classroom Room Parents.

Partners with teachers in the spring to create supply lists for each Manages vendor relationship, distributes order forms and collects payment in the spring,  and coordinates distribution of supplies in the fall.

Volunteers will help promote the event and coordinates with science teacher to set up hands-on science stations and other activities.  Prepares and runs the event. 

Coordinates the sale of Westmoor spirit wear in the fall. Negotiates prices, collects orders and payments and deliveres items. Attends New Family events and is available the first morning of school to support back to school sales.

Organizes special activities for the teachers during the week of Teacher Appreciation Week. Leads a committee in designing, organizing and executing several unique events that demonstrate how appreciative the Westmoor families and students are for the great teachers at Westmoor!

Coordinates with Westmoor teachers and staff to offer amazing donated raffle prizes to the students. Facilitates teacher donations, ticket sales and awarding the raffle prizes. Typically a fall event.
